Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu has shared his opinion on the alleged plan to choose a Muslim as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News reports that Kalu stated that he does not see anything wrong with the idea of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Kalu spoke while answering questions from reporters at the Senate.
According to him, it would be politically naive for Tinubu, a minority Muslim from the South-West, to choose a minority Christian from the North as his running mate.
He noted that since Tinubu’s wife is a senior pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), she will balance the ticket as a ‘de facto deputy president’ should Tinubu win the presidency.
He said that APC cannot afford to field two minorities and expect to win the 2023 presidential election.
“The Christians should relax because Tinubu’s wife is a pastor and once she’s a pastor we are protected because she’s not a housewife. She has political knowledge,” he said.
