Ahmed Usman Ododo, a former Auditor General for Local Governments in Kogi State, has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Kogi State Governorship election.

Gatekeepers News reports that Ododo polled a total of 78,704 votes to win the direct primary election held on Friday.

He defeated other contestants by a wide margin. His distant runner-up, Barr. Mohammed Ozigi Salami got 1,506 votes, while the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Smart Adeyemi, polled the least number of votes 311.

Similarly, Abubakar Yahaya-Ashemogu got 1,159 votes, Shaaibu Abubakar-Audu polled 763 votes, Stephen Ocheni garnered 552 votes while Sanusi Ohiere got 424.

The secretary of the Kogi State APC Primary Election Committee, Patrick Obahiagbon on behalf of the chairman of the panel, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, announced the results.

He said out of the 93, 729 voters, 83, 419 were accredited and voted for their candidates.

Obahiagbon declared Ododo as the winner of the Governorship primary election.
