President Muhammadu Buhari has met the new Chief of Army Staff, Farouk Yahaya on Monday.
Gatekeepers News reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has met the new Chief of Army Staff, Farouk Yahaya, and the Chief of Defense Staff, Lucky Irabor at the State House on Monday.
President Buhari in the meeting, stressed the need for synergy among security agencies, noting that there is a lot of pressure on security in the country.
The meeting had the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, in attendance. Magashi after the meeting disclosed that the President proffered advice and direction to the new Army Chief, adding that he undoubtedly expressed confidence in the new set of security chiefs.
The Defence Minister on the issue of securing the Northwestern part of the country asserted that issues of banditry, kidnapping, and criminality have remained a pivotal concern.
Magashi stated that though it is the constitutional responsibility of the police, the military would provide huger support to tackle the prolonged threat in the region.
The meeting comes days after the Police Council approved President Buhari’s appointment of Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff following the death of Ibrahim Attahiru.
