June 12: Police Fire Tear Gas At Lagos Protesters

Lagos Police have shot tear gas at protesters in the Ojota area of the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Lagos Police have fired tear gas at the protesters who gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos.

The protesters arrived at the venue on Saturday morning to stage a June 12 Democracy Day protest against bad governance in the country.

The security operatives present, however, dispersed them with tear gas.

Gatekeepers News reported that the State Police Command had stated that it is unaware of any planned protest for June 12, 2021, noting that anyone caught engaging in any act capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in the state, “will face the full wrath of the law.”
