Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor of Zamfara state, North-West, Nigeria, Bello Matawalle has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after months of speculations and denials.
Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmed disclosed this on his verified Facebook page.
The presidential aide wrote: “So Zamfara is back home! Welcome, Matawalle’’.
Matawalle was declared governor on May 24, 2019, after the Supreme Court disqualified all the APC candidates in the state in the 2019 general elections over the failure of the party to conduct valid primaries.
The Supreme court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the votes secured by the APC in all the elections and decide the new winners from the remaining valid votes.
However, the Governor is yet to confirm his defection officially, but sources confirmed to Gatekeepers News that he will formally join the party during the week.
