Copa America: Argentina Finish Group Stage Unbeaten

Argentina has finished the Copa America Group A stage unbeaten.

Gatekeepers News reports that Argentina has thrashed Bolivia 4-1 to finish the group stage unbeaten in the ongoing Copa America 2021.

The Argentinians also finished as the Group A toppers with Lionel Messi scoring twice and now the top scorer in the competition with three goals.

Messi’s lobbed pass at the 6th minute found Alejandro Gomez who gave Argentina the lead with a thumping volley. Messi, later netted a goal through a penalty kick at the 31st minute, bringing the game to 2-0.

In the 42nd minute, the Barcelona star produced a first-time lobbed finish from the edge of the box to beat Lampe and score his second goal of the game.

Erwin Saavedra netted a goal for Bolivia at the hour which looks like a sort of hope for the Cesar Farias’ men.

However, Lautaro Martinez after replacing Aguero in the 63rd minute, found the back of the net from a couple of yards out to secure the 4th goal for Argentina at the 65th minute.

Lionel Messi in the game that ended 4-1 was able to pass Javier Mascherano’s record as Argentina’s most capped international.

Messi who made his 148th appearance for his national team maintained his position as the highest goal scorer record with 75 goals with the Albiceleste.

La Albiceleste will meet winless Ecuador in the quarterfinals on Saturday (July 3). However, the current form of the Argentinians shows an uncontested slot for the semifinals.
