Supporters Of Zuma Threaten To Make South Africa Ungovernable

Supporters of former South African President Jacob Zuma have vowed to make the country ungovernable.

Gatekeepers News reports that supporters of former South African President Jacob Zuma have called for President Cyril Ramaphosa and vowed to render the country ungovernable if he is jailed.

Loyalists clad in their African National Congress (ANC) regalia have been outside their embattled leader’s Nkandla homestead in Kwa-Zulu Natal province for weeks and vowed to protect him.

An angry loyalist said, “We are here to say Ramaphosa must step down. Must step down. As from Monday, we will make the country ungovernable.”

Police under orders to arrest Zuma if necessary were stationed across the province on Sunday to control the crowds descending on Nkandla.

On Tuesday, Gatekeepers News reported that the Constitutional Court, in an unprecedented ruling, handed the former president a 15-month jail term for repeatedly refusing to comply with an order to appear before the Nation’s graft investigators.

According to the ruling, the 79-year-old was to turn himself in by Sunday. If not, police will be given an additional three days to arrest him and take him to jail to commence the sentence.

Meanwhile, Zuma, in response to all these, told hundreds of his supporters who are currently camped outside his home that his rights had been violated.

He said, “My constitutional rights were abused” by judges of the country’s constitutional court.

“No need for me to go to jail today,” he told journalists at his Nkandla homestead, adding, “when I saw the police here, I wondered how will they get to me, how will they get through all these people.”

A supporter, Lindokuhle Maphalala, noted, “If (Police Minister) Bheki Cele comes here to arrest uBaba (Zuma), he must start with us.”
