Nigerian Senate has adopted 3% allocation to host communities as South-South lawmakers protest.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigerian Senate has adopted a three per cent allocation to host communities in the Petroleum Industry Bill.

South-South lawmakers before the plenary session earlier demanded five per cent for host communities and were heard chanting “five per cent” till the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, walked in to commence plenary.

However, the Senate has pegged three per cent for the allocation of host communities in the Petroleum Industry Bill, despite the protests by southern lawmakers at the National Assembly.

This is a developing story.
