American actress and producer, Reese Witherspoon has sold her production company, Hello Sunshine, for $900million (£647m).
Gatekeepers News reports that the 45-year-old actress Hello Sunshine produces content distributed across various platforms; movies, TV shows, podcasts, and so on. As stated on its website, “is a media company that puts women at the centre of every story we create, celebrate and discover.’
Witherspoon’s production company was sold to a newly-formed media venture that’s backed by investment capital from Blackstone, the private equity giant. The venture is led by ex Disney honchos Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs.
The 45-year-old actress and Sarah Harden, the CEO of Hello Sunshine, will continue as board members of the production company and will oversee day-to-day operations.
Witherspoon confirmed the development via her Instagram page on Monday.
Witherspoon wrote: “What a tremendous day! I started @HelloSunshine to change the way all women are seen in media. Over the past few years, we have watched our mission thrive through books, TV, film and social platforms. Today, we’re taking a huge step forward by partnering with @blackstone, which will enable us to tell even more entertaining, impactful and illuminating stories about women’s lives globally. Gatekeepers News reports that the company has successful brought HBO’s Big Little Lies, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show, and Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere to large audiences in recent years.
Some of its film projects include Gone Girl and Wild, while it also has the popular Reese’s Book Club and recently made the move into podcasting and family entertainment.
