Pop Star Rihanna has reportedly dropped the lawsuit she filed against her father.
Gatekeepers News reports that Barbadian singer, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, popularly known as Rihanna has reportedly dropped the lawsuit she filed against her father, Ronald Fenty just weeks before they were due to appear in court.
The Umbrella singer earlier claimed that her father used her name without her permission to make money.
According to the documents seen by Radar Online, she has apparently reached a settlement out of court with Ronald Fenty in an effort to avoid a public dispute.
In 2019, Rihanna filed the lawsuit, saying: “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”
The world’s richest female musician added that Mr. Fenty was booking shows for her despite not being her agent, including a $15m (£10.9m) overseas tour without checking with her.
The Barbadian singer claimed she did not know the shows, adding that it caused her reputational damage when it came to talking to promoters and venues.
While asking for an injunction against her father, Rihanna alleged that he also tried to trademark the name “Fenty” and use it to open hotels.
Her father claimed he was the first to use the name and asked for the lawsuit to be thrown out.
After travel restrictions prevented Rihanna from travelling to the US from the UK for the original hearing date in June, the pair was supposed to appear in court later this month.
The 33-year-old Pop Star and her father have had a fractious relationship, with Mr. Fenty divorcing her mother when she was just 14.
According to reports, he has battled alcohol and drug addictions and was sent home from a tour in 2008 due to drunken behaviour on the tour bus.
Despite all these, Rihanna looked after her father when he caught COVID-19 in 2020, sending him a ventilator and checking up on him daily.
