Court has ordered resident doctors to suspend their strike.
Gatekeepers News reports that the National Industrial Court has ordered the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to suspend its strike “with immediate effect”.
The resident doctors had commenced the strike on August 1 over “irregular payment of salaries”, among other issues.
Efforts to end the deadlock by the House of Representatives and other stakeholders had proved abortive.
The Federal Government, afterwards instituted a suit against NARD, asking the court for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining members of the association from continuing with the action.
Counsel to the Federal Government, Tochukwu Maduka, on Friday, prayed the court for an order directing the defendants to suspend the strike pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
This is a developing story.
