Police officers in New York have killed a driver armed with a gun.
Gatekeepers News reports that the male driver on Thursday sped off from a traffic stop Thursday in Brooklyn and rear-ended a patrol car that drove in front of him before other officers stopped him.
New York City Police Chief Rodney Harrison while narrating the incident at a news conference, said the man got out of his vehicle, pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers, adding that the man refused commands to put down the gun.
Harrison said the man continued to advance on the officers, who opened fire and struck the man several times.
He was thereafter taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Harrison said the information was preliminary. The case was under investigation.
