As the year 2021 draws to an end, Stella Oduah has highlighted some of her achievements as a Senator representing Anambra North.
Gatekeepers News reports that Oduah, in a statement she personally signed on Wednesday, recalled that at the start of 2021, she promised to intensify more effort in ensuring she does more for Ndi Anambra North, saying “it is one promise I didn’t take lightly in the days and months leading up to this present day.”
She said: “We kicked off the year 2021 by continuing the sharing of relief materials through various interest groups in the 7 LGA’s and in doing so, we were particular about touching the lives of the indigent in our various communities.
“We also ramped up efforts in infrastructural development which saw us facilitating the construction and rehabilitation of many roads in different LGA’s, School block buildings, ICT centres, Diagnostic centres and Water borehole projects.
“We also continued with our street light projects which is even now, ongoing in various LGA’s as we speak.
“I intend to do a detailed breakdown of these projects and their locations at my end of year address.
“On Human Capital Development which I’m passionate about, we did a lot of skill acquisition training and empowerment programs designed to equip constituents with requisite skills guaranteed to put them over and above the poverty line when meticulously applied and at the last count, well over 18,000 constituents drawn from the 7 LGA’s have been beneficiaries.
“We also did a lot in terms of empowering indigent women with our Ego Mbido Afia scheme which is designed to uplift the petty trades of that woman selling Akara in the street corner, the Okpa or vegetable seller etc and I am pleased that the grants issued to well over 13000 of such women would assist their trades.
“Ndi Anambra North, the day I took that oath of office, I told myself that I would put your interests first above any other considerations which is why I directly ensured well over 15,000 constituents and counting benefitted from the Federal Government Covid-19 survival loan designed to cushion the financially debilitating effects of the pandemic and, it gives me so much joy to see your businesses flourishing as a result of this intervention.
“In 2021, we also did more in terms of facilitating employment for some in the various Federal Government ministries and parastatal but I would have you know that the jobs are few whilst holding on to the belief that human capital development holds the key to financial emancipation.
“This year, we tried as much as possible to ensure only persons from the various wards benefit from our numerous programs which is why we continue to leaverage on our numerous support groups like ISSOM, SSOLIN, N2N, DIVINE MOVEMENT, STELLA ODUAH AMBASSADORS, NWANYIBUIFE, STELLA ODUAH POLITICAL MOVEMENT to achieve just this and I enjoin us to seek out your nearest group so that you can easily be identified and recommended.
“We are also in talks with the leadership of various markets to revamp the Igbo apprentice scheme aptly labelled “ONYE AYANA NWANNE YA SCHEME” whereby we place willing youths under the care and tutelage of more established traders and artisans for a period of time after which we would empower them with seed funds to kickstart their own business.
“Umunnem, we are in the ember months and as you know, it is fraught with many dangers which should spur us to be careful on the roads as some of us journey back East and I shall be praying for your well-being whilst intensifying efforts to live up to my sworn oath.
“Like I said earlier, I shall be doing a much more detailed message on the above listed projects we embarked on in 2021 and I enjoin us to look out for my end of year address.
“Today is the first day of December 2021 and as usual, we must take out time to give praise to God for never leaving nor forsaking us despite the seeming gloom whilst praying that the coming year would usher in a fresh wave of prosperity for everyone in our dear senatorial district.
“On this note, I welcome you to this new month and may the pleadings of your hearts come to fruition in Jesus mighty name.”
