COVID-19 Ravages Football World – See Affected Clubs

Below are the clubs affected by the COVID-19 surge:

Gatekeepers News reports that fears to call off 2021/2022 season continues to loom as several clubs including English and Spanish have been struck by the COVID-19 surge.

In 2020, football activities were called off due to the pandemic, and even after the return, fans and spectators were not allowed on the pitch for several games.

Football lovers are, however, left with the fear of missing their favourite footballers playing on the pitch as many results returned positive.

Three Players Test Positive For COVID-19 In Chelsea

Chelsea on the other hand disclosed that three of their players have tested positive for COVID-19.

The news almost disrupted the Thursday evening game against Everton at Stamford Bridge as their pre-match plans have been severely disrupted.

Two of the three players were believed to be in Tuchel’s plans for the game were involved in a group training session on Wednesday.

A Chelsea reporter, Nick Purewal, however, confirmed that the positive cases are not a threat to the game, with no further Chelsea players returning a positive test on Thursday meaning this cannot be classed as an outbreak.

 

Real’s Players And Assistant Manager Test Positive For COVID-19

Real Madrid on Thursday, confirmed a COVID-19 outbreak at the club with Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin, Rodrygo, and the assistant manager Davide Ancelotti testing positive.

The comes after Luka Modric and Marcelo tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

This has, therefore, left Carlo Ancelotti with a weakened squad for his side’s last two games before the winter break as the total coronavirus cases in the club reached seven.

 

Manchester United Postpones Second Premier League Game

Manchester United have confirmed that their Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for Saturday, December a18 has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course.

The club while announcing this in a statement said, “The health of players and staff is our priority. Given the number of players and support staff having to isolate due to COVID-19, the club had no option other than to request the match be rearranged. The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors.

“We will also suspend football training operations at the Carrington Training Complex for a short period to help reduce risk of further transmission.

“We regret any disappointment and inconvenience caused to fans by the postponement.”

Gatekeepers News earlier reported that the fixture between Leicester -Tottenham has been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak making it the third consecutive postponement involving Tottenham.

Spurs confirmed that a total of eight players and five members of staff tested positive to COVID-19 at the north London club.

The daily cases recorded have led to the postponements of several fixtures, football lovers are hoping the stadiums won’t go empty this time.
