Lagos based not-for-profit organisation, iLift Foundation has graduated 10 participants from Cohort 2 of its flagship program, the iLift Youth Program.
Gatekeepers News reports that the graduation ceremony was held on Saturday 18 December 2021, and deserving participants were also awarded for the program which lasted for 6 months. The participants that graduated will, according to the statement made available, be intentionally matched with scholarships to academic and vocational institutions as the next step in their life empowerment journey.
The iLift Youth Program is the platform through which the startup social organisation executes its mission of improving the quality of life in Africa by empowering Youths in disadvantaged communities. It focuses on radical behavioural reformation with an emphasis on empowering participants with the World Economic Forum recognized essential critical skills for corporate survival in the 21st Century.
These skills include curiosity, critical thinking, leadership, literacy, numeracy, financial literacy, personal grooming, emotional intelligence, presentation and ICT.
“The past 6 months have proved to be transformative in the lives of these disadvantaged youths that makeup Cohort 2,” said Mojisola Ojo, iLift Foundation’s co-founder and executive director.
“This landmark celebration gives us the confidence to keep up the arduous work of changing lives, and attracting other disadvantaged youths as we gear up for Cohort 3,” the statement reads in part.
Major highlights from the ceremony were the keynote speech from Emmanuel Tarfa of Enzo Krypton & Company; guest speech from Ademola Adeosun of Howbury School; and a documentary presentation that chronicled the lives of iLift scholarship beneficiaries, Munachi Omabah and Victor Effiong.
Another highlight was the participants’ awards that went to the exceptional participants as follows: Most Consistent: Ibrahim Olaiya; Neatest: Victoria Paradise; Most Creative: Samson Akorede; Most Sociable: Samuel Babatunde; Most Inquisitive: Samuel Babatunde; Best Behaved: Victoria Paradise; Best Graduating Participant: Victoria Paradise.
Gatekeepers News reports that iLift Foundation will kick off a new session on 10 January 2022 with the admission of Cohort 3, and commencement of continuity programs for Cohorts 1 and 2 respectively.
The Foundation, therefore, solicited donations and support to make the programs sustainable and successful.
