Police are searching for two suspects responsible for killing a grandmother, injuring her eight-year-old grandson, and hitting other pedestrians during a hit-and-run rampage.
Gatekeepers News reports that the unidentified driver in a Honda HRV with mismatched license plates and a passenger were smoking marijuana when police approached them in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood.
According to police, the two occupants “fled at an extremely high rate of speed.”
The driver sped to hit a bicyclist, 28, and two pedestrians – leaving one dead. The vehicle continued down the street, ran a traffic light, t-boned a Honda Accord, and collided with another man, 43, on the sidewalk.
The man was, however, able to quickly move after the collision and faces non-life-threatening injuries.
Moments later, the driver took off running from the crash as witnesses chased after him.
Christopher was on her way home from Downtown Brooklyn with her 8-year-old grandson, Jacob, when the car struck them and a male bicyclist.
The 67-year-old who survived three heart attacks in March – was pronounced dead at the scene and her grandson remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
All the other victims, including the driver of the Honda Accord, remain in stable condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
