Denmark international, Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United on a free transfer.
Gatekeepers News reports that United are expected to finalise a three-year contract for the 30-year-old, who spent the second half of last season at Brentford.
Eriksen will, thereafter, proceed with his medical before completing the move.
Although he was mulling over offers from United and Brentford, the Danish midfielder has decided to join up with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano, one of the most world-renowned sources for football transfers confirmed this in a tweet on Monday: “Manchester United are set to sign Christian Eriksen, here we go! Full verbal agreement in place, as first called by @David_Ornstein. 🚨🇩🇰 #MUFC
“Communication sent to both Man United and Brentford today morning.
“Contract until June 2025, waiting for signature and medical.”
Eriksen worked with Ten Hag when he trained with Ajax as part of his return to football following his cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020.
Meanwhile, the news of an agreement comes Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear he wants to leave United following a slow start to the club’s business in the transfer window this summer.
Despite his desire to leave Old Trafford, United’s position on Ronaldo remains that he has a year remaining on his contract and is not for sale.
The 37-year-old subsequently failed to report for pre-season training on Monday, citing family reasons.
In other news, Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia is on the verge of becoming United’s first signing, having undergone medical checks ahead of signing a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
