Senator Elisha Abbo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who represents Adamawa North senatorial district, on Friday, backed the call for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Gatekeepers News reports that the opposition senators from various political parties threatened to commence impeachment proceedings against Buhari if he fails to address the high level of insecurity in the country. The lawmakers, who staged a walkout from the senate chamber on Wednesday, subsequently issued a 6-week ultimatum to the President to tackle the security challenges.
The presidency, in a statement, backed the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, for not “entertaining the ridiculous motion to impeach our President”.
However, on Friday, Abbo, a popular APC member, said he is in full support of the impeachment move against the President.
The senator told Channels TV that Buhari has failed in his fundamental responsibility to secure the lives and property of the people.
