Senator representing Anambra North, Stella Adaeze Oduah OON, has once again donated relief items for the internally displaced in the various temporary shelters within the district.
Gatekeepers News reports that the items which include bags of 10 Kg Rice, tubers of yam, Packs of Mosquito nets, cartons of noodles, bags of Garri, bags of drinking water, loaves of bread, and bags of sweet potatoes, are currently awaiting deployment to the various IDP camps.
This would complement her free medical and feeding outreaches which have been ongoing since the unfortunate flooding incident.
Oduah had earlier on the 12th of October, made an impassioned presentation in the Senate, calling on Government and all relevant stakeholders to come to the aid of Anambra North constituents and it is worthy to note that she is not resting on her oars as plans have been put in place for a post-flooding intervention.
The plans include deploying more relief materials to the affected communities and free medical Outreaches that would include eye surgeries, free diagnosis and delivery, prostrate surgeries, and cervical cancer tests.
The Senator’s team which has been engaged in free medical Outreaches and the provision of food to the displaced, have visited the Umueri unity Hall IDP camp, Umuoba Anam Unity Primary School Hall IDP camp, Fr. Joseph Memorial Secondary School Otuocha IDP camp, Igbariam IDP camp, Odekpe Community town hall camp, Otumoye Primary school Camp Okpoko, Sen. Oduah Auditorium camp Akili, Ibelenta Atani temporal settlement Atani, Archbishop Crowther Memorial IDP camp ONITSHA and Sharon.
As a victim of both previous and present flood incidents, Oduah understands how it feels for homes, properties, and farmlands to be completely submerged in water as her Akili home and farms are currently submerged and she deeply commiserates with families that lost loved ones to this raging force of nature.
In the coming days, the aforementioned relief materials shall be distributed to all IDP centers and it remains our fervent prayers that this incessant flooding menace, never reoccurs again.
