Osun State Governor, South-West, Nigeria, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the dissolution of all Non-statutory boards in the State’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Gatekeepers News reports Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s Spokesperson said the decision was conveyed through a Memo to the heads of MDAs by Teslim Igbalaye, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), on Tuesday.
Non-statutory Boards are created by Executive decisions such as a directive by the government, and they do not have formal legal backing.
“As a follow-up to the pronouncement of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, on Sunday, 27th November, 2022, all non-statutory boards, commissions and parastatals including those of Tertiary Institutions (with exception of UNIOSUN) are hereby dissolved in the State forthwith,” the statement reads.
“Consequently, all accounting officers of such boards, parastatals and commissions are to take charge with immediate effect.”
Adeleke was sworn on Sunday as the Sixth Executive Governor of the State.
In his inauguration speech, Adeleke had said he would review all appointments made by his predecessor from July 17.
Following the speech, On Monday Adeleke approved the suspension of Segun Oladitan, Chairperson of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), over alleged Financial Impropriety and abuse of office.
The Governor also reversed the appointments of three traditional rulers, saying it will be reviewed to ensure there was strict compliance with due process of chieftaincy declarations and native law.
