Abuja Court has dismissed the 25% Case filed by Abuja residents against President Bola Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News reports that some Abuja residents had filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, to dismiss President Tinubu’s Victory at the February 25 poll failing to secure at least 25 percent of votes cast in the FCT.
The plaintiff through their lawyer, Chuks Nwachukwu had asked the court to determine, “whether or not the person who is to be elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and consequently administrator of the FCT through the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority, on the first ballot is required by section 134(2)(b) of the Constitution to obtain at least 25 percent of the votes cast in the FCT.
“Whether the plaintiffs and other residents and registered voters in the FCT Abuja would not be discriminated against if any state within the Federal Republic of Nigeria were substituted for the FCT.”
In a judgement on Tuesday morning, the court dismissed the case for lack of jurisdiction and locus standi.
The lawyer Nwachukwu was fined N20bn, and the court further directed the transmission of the case file and all processes filed to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for appropriate disciplinary actions against the lawyer.
