Governor Nasir el-Rufai, of Kaduna State, Northern Nigeria, has been conferred with the chieftaincy title of Gbobaniyi of Ijebuland.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Paramount Ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona conferred the title on the former governor on Saturday.
Similarly, the former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Jimi Lawal, and his wife, Maryam, were also conferred with chieftaincy titles by the monarch.
El-Rufai is the first northerner conferred with thr chieftaincy title by the monarch.
He served as the governor of Kaduna between 2015 and 2023.
