JUST IN: Cross River State Assembly Speaker Impeached

Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ekom Ayambem has been impeached.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Speaker was impeached by 17 members of the House during Wednesday’s plenary over alledged misappropriation of funds.

The motion of his impeachment was moved by Effiom Ekarika, who represents Calabar South 1 Constituency.

The motion was seconded by Omang Charles Omang, the lawmaker representing Bekwarra State Constituency.

 Ayambem was elected as the Speaker of the 10th Cross River  State House of Assembly in June 2023.
