Edo State Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, South-South Vice Chairman Dan Orbih, and former Representative Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama for alleged anti-party activities.
Gatekeepers News reports that the trio was expelled for working against the party’s interests, according to PDP Chairman Tony Aziegbemi.
Shaibu was accused of donating vehicles to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and disrespecting party leaders, while Orbih was said to have urged members to join the opposition party and accepted an appointment without consulting the PDP. Ogbeide-Ihama allegedly donated his building for APC campaign use.
Aziegbemi stated that the expulsions will not affect the party’s chances in the September 21 governorship election, adding that the PDP is well-positioned to win.
However, the expulsion of Ogbeide-Ihama was disputed by the PDP leadership in Oredo Local Government Area, who declared the suspension null and void.
