Lagos Seals Building After Residents Dump Waste on Flooded Street
Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed a building in the Ijesha Surulere area of Lagos after residents were caught dumping waste on a flooded street.

Gatekeepers News reports that the building, located at 2 Akewukewe street, was sealed off by LAWMA officials on Wednesday.

The incident occurred during a torrential rain that left many parts of the city underwater, causing flooding and disrupting transportation.

A resident had posted a picture on social media showing the residents dumping waste into a trash bin in the flooded street, prompting a response from the Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.

Wahab announced the sanction on social media, posting pictures of LAWMA officials sealing off the building.

The move is part of the state government’s efforts to tackle waste management and environmental pollution in the city.
