Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members to avoid participating in the ongoing nationwide protests, dubbed ’10 Days of Rage’, and instead focus on their businesses.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a joint statement, IPMAN’s national president, Abubakar Shettima, and national secretary, James Terlumun, urged members to remain calm and concentrate on their work.
The association expressed support for the President Bola Tinubu-led administration’s efforts to ensure the nation’s full economic recovery.
IPMAN encouraged Nigerians to engage in dialogue and constructive engagement to push their demands, rather than resorting to protests that could lead to destruction of lives and property.
IPMAN warned members against being led into chaos by “faceless individuals who do not have the ultimate good of Nigeria at heart”.
The association noted that protests organized by recognized groups with known leaders are more likely to remain peaceful, whereas those called by faceless groups can escalate into violence.
“We urge members and the general public not to be caught in this impending imbroglio, which could lead to loss of lives and property in an otherwise peaceful Nigeria,” IPMAN said.
