Nigeria representative, Favour Ofili finished sixth in final of women’s 200 meters at 2024 Paris Olympics.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ofili finished far behind the leading pack in final held on Tuesday at Stade de France.
The twenty-one (21) years old sprinter finished in 22.24 seconds, a distanced position behind the US representative, Gabrielle Thomas, who finished in 21.83 seconds.
Great Britain representatives, Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Saint Lucia representative, Julien Alfred won silver medal after finishing in 22.08 seconds, and USA representative, Brittany Brown won the gold medal.
Ofili qualified for final with third-best time overall in semi-finals and was able to compete against other strong fields in the game.
She was however outraced in the showdown. Although she was off the block sharply after the gun, she faded as the race proceeded into final 100m.
Ofili is set to compete in the women’s 4×100 relay billed to commence on Thursday.
She became the first Nigerian to compete in the event’s final at the games since Mary Onyali achieved her feat in 1996 in Atlanta.
