Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has spoken out against the bullying of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa finalist.
Gatekeepers News reports that Adetshina, a model of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, faced scrutiny over her nationality and withdrew from the competition after the South African Department of Home Affairs alleged her mother may have committed fraud and identity theft.
Tyla expressed disappointment and support for Adetshina, stating that she was bullied out of the competition.
On social media, Tyla shared a report of Adetshina’s withdrawal and wrote: “Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it!”
Tyla emphasised her stance against bullying, saying: “I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied, and that’s what I don’t stand for.”
Meanwhile, Miss Universe Nigeria has extended an invitation to Chidimma Adetshina to join their contest, but she has yet to respond.
