Tinubu Inaugurates 30 CNG-Powered Buses Donated To FG
President Bola Tinubu launched 30 hybrid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses, donated by the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to enhance Nigeria’s transportation system.

Gatekeepers News reports that the buses, manufactured by Innoson Motors, can transport 3,000 passengers.

Dame Winifred Akpani, DAPPMAN Chairperson, expressed support for the administration’s efforts to improve transportation, stating, “These buses demonstrate our commitment to addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges and promoting local manufacturing.”

President Tinubu highlighted the benefits of natural gas-powered transportation, including reduced costs, enhanced productivity, and savings on imported fuel.

He cited India’s successful implementation of CNG for commercial vehicles since 2004 and emphasized Nigeria’s potential for similar benefits, given that commercial vehicles account for 80% of the country’s petroleum demand.

“The solution is here. We have it. We will work on it. We promise you things will get better. Prosperity will be achieved,” President Tinubu assured, commending Innoson Motors for its commitment to the CNG initiative.
