Some Nigerians have expressed displeasure over the use of ‘Presidency Nigeria’ X handle to canvass votes for Monday Okpebholo, candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2024 Edo governorship election.
Gatekeepers News reports that Vice-President Kashim Shettima on Saturday, made use of ‘Presidency Nigeria’ X handle with the username @NGRPresident to ask voters to vote for Okpebholo.
Shettima through the statement posted, said if Okpebholo is elected Governor, Edo state will “witness positive redefining and reshaping of governance”.
Some Nigerians, angered by such an act, accused the APC-led administration of bastardising many government institutions and agencies.
An X user, Inibehe Effiong said, “This is despicable but not surprising, the APC has rubbished every institution in this country. Using official government handle for partisan campaigns is egregious. State capture in full force.”
Another, Ojukwu Justin Daniel said, “By the time this administration is over, the presidency wouldn’t have much value any longer.”
Gbenga Sesan said, “Delete this!”
“You should stop embarrassing the rest of Nigeria with your incompetence, lack of judgment, need for decent exposure and utter disrespect for democracy.”
Niger Delta said, “With Presidential handle?”
“General Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ruined this country”
Olorogun of Ila-Orangun said, “The continued bastardisation of Institutions of State is one of the main reasons it is clear that APC is irredeemable in its mission to destroy Nigeria.
May the Country escape before it’s too late.”
Tony Atambi said, “A major fallout of the ineptitude of the APC is this absence of class & dignified approach that should be associated with governance. Everything just dey crass & local. It’s so frustrating & annoying. Why would you use the official handle of the Presidency for partisan politics?”
Oluseyi said, “Sigh. This is out of place. Why? Why? On the Presidency handle.”
