In Adamawa State, youths celebrated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary by gathering at the Unity Flyover near the police headquarters in Yola, the state capital, to show their support for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Gatekeepers News reports that that the solidarity walk, organised under the banner of Concerned Youths of Adamawa, saw scores of young people flooding the major streets of Yola.
The group’s Convener, Yakubu Girei, emphasised that the demonstration was intended to express support for the policies and programs introduced by Tinubu, which they believe are yielding positive results.
“We believe in the direction the president is taking the country, and today’s walk is our own contribution to ensuring the continuation of his good work,” Girei said.
The Adamawa State Police Command had earlier cautioned against any disruptions to the Independence Day celebrations with protests, stating their readiness to address any unrest.
In a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on Monday, the command assured residents that the police were ready to tackle any form of unrest.
