Police Fire Teargas At Protesters In Abuja
In the Utako market area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, police officers used teargas on a group of protesters who had gathered on Tuesday morning.

Gatekeepers News reports that the protesters, organised by civil society organizstions under the #EndBadGovernance movement, were met with teargas fumes while deliberating on the day’s proceedings at the busy market.

Damilare Adenola, director of mobilisation of Take It Back Movement, stated that the protesters plan to regroup and continue their demonstration.

The protest aims to address grievances related to the hike in fuel price, rising food costs, and the impact of inflation on the livelihoods of ordinary Nigerians.

This demonstration coincides with Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary and is a follow-up to the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest of August, which turned violent in certain northern states.
