FG Begins Emergency Repairs On Lagos-Abeokuta Road

Federal Government has begun emergency repairs on the severely damaged 7 km stretch of Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a crucial route that has suffered significant neglect in recent years.

Gatekeepers News reports that Special Adviser Media to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji announced this through a statement released on Wednesday.

Orji emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the pressing infrastructure issues affecting commuters.

He said, “The road has been bad for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief on the dilapidated sections in conjunction with the concessionaire.”

The special adviser noted that the repair initiative is part of a broader strategy under the ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ program, aimed at enhancing the condition of federal roadways across the nation.

He said, “The Federal Ministry of Works under the watch of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all the federal roads nationwide.”

Orji noted that motorists and residents have long expressed frustration over the road’s poor condition, which has led to increased travel times and serious safety concerns.

He said, “With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smooth transit for the thousands who rely on this vital route daily.”
