Nigeria women’s team, the Flamingos have qualified for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after winning 1-0 against the host country, Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Flamingos will therefore battle United States in the quarterfinals of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Dominican Republic on Satiday.
A 89th-minute strike from 24 yards by Shakirat Moshood sealed the win, getting Nigeria all three points in their final Group A match.
The Nigeria team edged past the fierce host country, due to Moshood’s decisive goal.
The team Coach, Bankole Olowookere made a strategic substitution to the starting lineup by introducing Rokibat Azeez, Blessing Ifitezue, and Ramotalahi Kareem. He later brought back Peace Effiong and Harmony Chidi to the lineup.
The win got Nigeria to the top of Group A with three points ahead of Ecuador. The latter which defeated New Zealand with 4-0 will compete with Spain in the quarterfinal.
