Gatekeepers News reports that Manchester United announced the new coach’s arrival through a statement posted on its website on Friday.
The manager joined United from Sporting Lisbon and bagged a three-year deal to manage the club with an option for an additional year.
The Portuguese coach is however not expected to join Manchester United immediately because of work visa requirements and is billed to resume at Old Trafford on November 11.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue as the club interim manager until Amorim arrives.
