Kaduna Gov Approves N72k Minimum Wage – Free Transport For Workers

Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani has approved N72,000 as the new minimum wage for civil servants in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that chief press secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa in a statement released said the new minimum wage takes effect from November 2024.

Musa that the Governor is set to launch a free transportation scheme for workers with 100 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses released for this purpose.

The media aide noted that a joint committee consisting of representatives of organised labour in the state and the government will be set up to oversee the scheme.

He said, “The buses will convey civil servants to and from work. This is aimed at alleviating the suffering of workers and enhancing their productivity.”

“A Joint Management Committee consisting of representatives of organized labour (NLC and TUC) and the State Government will be set up to manage the Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants.”

“Kaduna State Government will continue to fashion and implement policies and measures to bring succour to the people.”

“We are committed to transforming the lives of the less privileged. With the sustained support of our citizens, we shall make Kaduna State a Model for Social Welfare Interventions.’’
