In a groundbreaking achievement, Nigerian rapper, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema as his ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez has become the first Afrobeats song to surpass one billion views on YouTube.
Gatekeepers News reports that ‘Calm Down’ is at number three on US Billboard Hot 100 and topped various music charts around the world.
Rema announced his latest achievement through a post on X on Saturday, describing it as a “culture-defining achievement.”
He wrote, “The official music video for ‘Calm Down’ by Rema & Selena Gomez has surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube, becoming the first Afrobeats song to reach this milestone. A culture-defining achievement, and one for the books!”
