President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, after participating in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Gatekeepers News reports that he landed at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport around 8 PM on Tuesday, where he was welcomed by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, along with various ministers and security officials.

The summit, hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, commenced on Monday and centered on pressing issues in the Middle East.

During the event, President Tinubu addressed the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, advocating for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution.

He emphasised the necessity of reviving the two-state solution to attain lasting peace in the region, expressing concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

In detailing Nigeria’s steadfast position on the two-state solution, Tinubu highlighted it as a symbol of hope, asserting the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians to self-determination and peace.

The President cautioned that merely offering “empty condemnations” will not suffice to resolve the long-standing conflict in Palestine, which he described as enduring for an excessive duration.

He urged all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to adhere to principles of proportionality and respect the basic rights of civilians, in alignment with global legal and diplomatic standards.

Tinubu characteriaed the conflict’s historical impact as profound, noting that the consequences of division resonate quickly and widely.

He praised the initiative taken by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in convening the summit, referring to it as a crucial moment for rejuvenating diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace.

The President further assured members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that Nigeria, informed by its own experiences, would persist in supporting international endeavors that promote peace and stability in the Middle East.

Accompanying President Tinubu were key officials, including Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Nuhu Ribadu (National Security Adviser), Mohammed Idris (Minister of Information and National Orientation), and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed .
