President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Elon Musk to lead efforts aimed at restructuring the extensive $6.5 trillion United States bureaucracy through a newly established initiative called the ‘Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).’
Gatekeepers News reports that this project, described by Trump as the ‘Manhattan Project of our time,’ will see Musk collaborate with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. The duo “will provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large-scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.”
In light of ongoing concerns among Republicans regarding government overspending, Trump has expressed confidence that the initiative will achieve its objectives by July 4, 2026.
The statement released on Tuesday said the duo “will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement’.
“I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans,” the statement quoted the president-elect as saying.
“Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud which exists throughout our annual $6.5 Trillion Dollars of Government Spending.”
According to the President-elect, a ‘smaller Government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence’.
‘I am confident they will succeed!’ Trump said.
Musk and Ramaswamy have become some of Trump’s top allies in the tech bro community. DOGE itself is a play on the cryptocurrency Musk sent into the stratosphere by posting about it on Twitter (before he purchased and renamed it).
The SpaceX, X and Tesla head, Musk officially endorsed Trump on the heels of the July 13 assassination attempt on the Republican at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally.
Musk responded to his appointment by posting to X: ‘The merch will be’ and then typed out three fire emojis.
Ramaswamy, a Yale Law-educated entrepreneur, founded Roivant Sciences Ltd. to leverage technology in drug development. He authored the book “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam.”
During the 2024 election cycle, he ran for president while remaining supportive of Trump, unlike other candidates who critiqued the former president. After finishing fourth in the Iowa caucuses, Ramaswamy suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump.
Gatekeepers News earlier reported that Trump picked his campaign manager Susie Wiles as Chief of Staff.
Similarly, Trump has brought in Tom Homan, the former acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as the Border Czar, while Mike Waltz has been asked to be the White House National Security Advisor.
