In a recent interview on Naija FM, Timaya characterised fellow musician Eedris Abdulkareem as “a talkative who no one is afraid of” in the music industry.
Gatekeepers News reports that the host of the show made a comparison between Timaya and Abdulkareem, suggesting that both artists often command a level of fear among their peers.
However, Timaya quickly refuted this suggestion, asserting that his demeanour and behaviour differ significantly from those of Abdulkareem. He underscored his own self-respect and the importance of mutual respect within the industry.
“I no dey talk or behave like Eedris. Nobody Dey fear Eedris because he is talking too much. Right from time,” Timaya said.
“I don’t even want people to be afraid of me. I respect myself so that people can respect me too. Eedris and I never had any problem. The relationship we had was because I worked with him. I learned what I needed and moved on.
“I don’t even think he knew my name at that time. I only just give him shoutouts because he was part of my story. We don’t have any reason to communicate.”
The tension between Timaya and Abdulkareem dates back to 2017 when Abdulkareem labelled Timaya an “ingrate” in an interview, claiming he played a crucial role in Timaya’s rise to fame.
In response, Timaya accused Abdulkareem of taking advantage of his services without offering compensation. He further alleged that Abdulkareem treated him as if he were insignificant and encouraged him to focus on self-improvement instead of placing blame on others.
