University of Abuja has appointed Prof. Aisha Maikudi as Vice-chancellor (VC).
Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in a statement released by acting Director of Public Affairs of the school, Habib Yakoob on Tuesday.
The appointment comes amidst allegations of the governing council imposing Aisha who is the acting vc as substantive vc of the higher institution.
According to stakeholders, Aishah doesn’t have the required number of years of experience needed to be appointed VC of a university.
The statement reads, “The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, under the chairmanship of Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd), has approved the appointment of Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the 7th Substantive vice-chancellor of the University.”
“The appointment was announced during the 77th Extraordinary Meeting of Council on Tuesday 315t December 2024.”
“The appointment takes effect from January 1, 2025, and it is for a nonrenewable tenure of five years.”
“Maikudi emerged as the best among 10 shortlisted candidates and interviewed by the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board of the University, in line with the extant regulations governing the process.”
