Roberto Carlos, former Real Madrid defender has dismissed reports insinuating that he is homeless following separation from his estranged wife.
Gatekeepers News reports that the false reports had stated that Carlos who is now Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations is now staying at the club’s training ground at Valdebabas.
The reports alleged that he is sleeping at the club facility because he has left his private residence in Spain following a complicated divorce settlement between him and Mariana Lucon, his wife who has claimed their matrimonial home while her family is living in his second property.
Carlos in a post on Twitter on Wednesday, dismissed the reports, stating that they are “false and damaging” and “baseless rumours” designated to generate clicks.
The 51-year-old Brazilian former footballer noted that he lives “in a private residence, supported by members of my family.”
He said, “In recent days, I have become aware of false and damaging stories circulating about me and my family.”
“While I value privacy, I feel compelled to address the baseless rumours about my living situation. These fabricated stories are entirely false and seem designated to generate clicks.”
“I remain in a private residence, supported by members of my family.”
“My legal team is reviewing these claims and will take appropriate action.”
He further asked that his privacy be respected during this time.
Carlos and Lucon tied the knot in 2000. Their marriage is blessed with two daughters; Manuela and Mariana.
