Saudi Arabia Imposes Temporary Visa Ban On 14 Countries Ahead Of Hajj Season

Saudi Arabia has announced a temporary visa ban on 14 countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Yemen, ahead of the upcoming Hajj season.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the suspension applies to Umrah, business, and family visas, with restrictions expected to end by mid-June.

The primary concern behind the temporary visa ban is unauthorised Hajj participation, which has led to overcrowding and safety risks in the past. Many visitors have entered the country on multiple-entry visas and stayed illegally to perform Hajj, bypassing the kingdom’s quota system. Additionally, illegal employment has been cited as a major factor, with travelers using business and family visas engaging in unauthorized work and violating visa rules.

Individuals holding Umrah visas can still enter Saudi Arabia until April 13. However, those staying illegally in the country despite the ban may face a five-year restriction on future entries. Authorities urge affected travelers to comply with the new rules to avoid penalties.

To ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has launched a digital guide in 16 languages, including Urdu. The comprehensive guide is available in multiple formats, including PDF downloads and audio versions, and can be accessed through the ministry’s official website.

The temporary visa ban aims to streamline travel regulations and improve safety measures during the Hajj season. Normal visa processes are expected to resume after mid-June.
