2027 Election: I Am Not Leaving APC— Buni

Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe, has dismissed claims that he plans to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join an opposition coalition led by figures like former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

Gatekeepers News reports that Buni clarified his political stance in a statement by Mamman Mohammed, director-general of press and media affairs in the office of the Governor.

Viral reports had alleged that Buni and four other All Progressives Congress (APC) governors were finalising plans to defect to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before 2027 elections.

However, Buni’s spokesperson said the claim of Buni joining the coalition is “baseless fabrications, unwarranted imagination, and assumptions that did not cross paths with reality in any way, shape, and form.”

He emphasised that the people behind the rumours were not close to the governor and had no insight into his political intentions.

The statement reads, “Buni is no ordinary member of APC; he is not just an APC governor. He is APC in all ramifications, with APC flowing in his veins.”

“His contributions to building APC as a two-term National Secretary and National Chairman who chaired the party’s convention committee make him unique, and whose imagination of leaving the party cannot be speculated.”

Mohammed further suggested that those spreading the rumors are likely envious of Buni’s political sagacity and wished they had someone of his caliber within their ranks.
