Female Suicide Bomber Kills 24 In Borno Food Joint Explosion

At least 24 people have been killed after a female suicide bomber attacked a local food joint in Konduga LGA of Borno state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, revealed that the incident occurred at about 10pm on
Friday, leaving several others severely injured.

Citing police sources, the report said the attacker detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) while patrons were gathered at the food spot.

The force of the blast dismembered the suicide bomber, with only her head recovered from the scene.

The bodies of the deceased victims were deposited in a local mortuary, while the wounded were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

A joint security task force, including personnel from the military, police, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, has since visited the site of the explosion.

The area has been cordoned off, and security has been intensified across Konduga to prevent further incidents.

The incident follows a similar attack in August 2024, where a suspected suicide bomber claimed the lives of at least 17 people at a local market in the same town.
