Former England international, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has announced he will leave Everton on a free transfer after failing to reach a new contract agreement with the club.
Gatekeepers news reports that the 28-year-old striker, who spent nine seasons at Goodison Park, described the decision as a “new challenge” in his career.
Announcing his departure through a post on Instagram, Calvert-Lewin said the move was a family decision made after deep reflection.
He wrote, “ After nine remarkable years at this club, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision — together with my family — to begin a new chapter in my career.”
“The choice to move on was not simply about me — it was a decision my family and I spent a long time considering together.”
“We believe it is the right moment to seek a new challenge and continue growing, but that doesn’t lessen the bond I’ll always have with Everton.”
Once a regular in the England setup and a deputy to Harry Kane, Calvert-Lewin scored four goals in 11 international appearances.
He was part of the squad that reached the Euro 2020 final, though he has not featured for England since.
Despite frequent injury setbacks, Calvert-Lewin leaves Everton as the club’s third-highest Premier League goalscorer, with 71 goals in 273 appearances across all competitions.
