Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, have arrived in London to receive the body of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday after a prolonged illness.

Gatekeepers Newreports that President Bola Tinubu directed Shettima and Gbajabiamila to lead the Nigerian delegation to London to facilitate the repatriation of Buhari’s body for burial in Nigeria.

The Nigerian delegation was warmly received in London by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and other dignitaries.

As news of Buhari’s passing spread, tributes poured in from across the nation, with many leaders describing him as a man of integrity.

President Tinubu, in a show of respect, ordered flags to be flown at half-staff, extending his deep condolences to the family of the late president.

Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1984 to 1985, was later democratically elected as president from 2015 to 2023.
