Paul Ibe, spokesperson to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that the resignation letter of his principal from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was leaked by internal saboteurs within the party.
Gatekeepers News reports that the letter, dated July 14, emerged online on Wednesday, drawing criticism from various quarters, including Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
The minister condemned the timing of the disclosure, citing national mourning for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in the United Kingdom and was buried in Daura on Tuesday.
Keyamo also condemned Atiku for using official coat of arms letterhead in his resignation notice, pointing out that the former vice president no longer holds a public office.
Responding during an appearance on Arise Television’s News Night, Ibe accused PDP insiders of conspiring with members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to leak the letter.
The former vice president’s spokesman described them as “rogue elements” who do not have Atiku’s best interests at heart.
He further criticised Keyamo for focusing on partisan issues instead of addressing pressing challenges in the aviation sector, including infrastructure and safety concerns.
