Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate on Tuesday applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increased funding to the Healthcare sector and building different state-of-the-art healthcare facilities across Nigeria.
Gatekeepers News reports that Prof. Pate revealed that the President’s initiatives in the health sector are uniting the country, enabling all regions to benefit from improved healthcare services through the provision of modern facilities.
Prof. Pate made the disclosure during the opening ceremony of the 110th General Meeting of the Committee of Chief Medical Directors of Federal Teaching Hospital ( CCMDFTH) held at the multipurpose hall of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
According to Prof. Pate, tremendous transformation is ongoing at different Teaching Hospitals and other healthcare facilities within the country.
“At the moment, there’s an amazing work going on in all Federal facilities where I have visited. The health sector is one of the elements the President is using to unify this country through the provision of improved healthcare facilities in many parts of Nigeria.
“It is clear that Nigeria’s health sector is on the move, and President Tinubu chose the health sector as one of those elements to impact the transformational journey of our country under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Minister said.
The host CMD, Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, praised the Federal Government and Minister of Health for the transformative projects undertaken at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
Prof Ahidjo disclosed that improved funding from the Federal Government to Federal Tertiary Hospitals and UMTH in particular is responsible for the many projects executed targeted at providing quality healthcare services to residents of the North East and beyond.
“It has never been this good to the Teaching Hospitals in terms of funding as we’re getting now from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“We’re happy now that many programs are coming through the Federal Ministry of Health to Teaching Hospitals and these programs are focused and impactful,” Prof. Ahidjo said.
Projects commissioned during the event include the Bola Ahmed Tinubu ICT Institute, Jibril Aminu Heart Centre Interventional Radiology Centre, Remodelled and Renovated GOPD with Mini-grid, and Cancer Center among others.
