All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos has dismissed allegations made by African Democratic Congress (ADC) that its members were attacked during a political gathering in Alimosho over the weekend.

Gatekeepers News reports that the accusations surfaced after Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, former Labour Party governorship candidate, formally joined the ADC on Saturday. At the event, he alleged that APC had prevented access to a venue initially approved for the programme.

Responding to the claims, Seye Oladejo, spokesman of the Lagos APC, described them as wild and fabricated, insisting that the ruling party had no reason to engage in violence.

The APC spokesman said the narrative was nothing more than a politically irrelevant party clutching at straws to stay in the news.

Oladejo criticised Rhodes-Vivour for alleging that APC-sponsored thugs were involved, arguing that the politician was only attempting to cover up his repeated political failures.

He added, “Rhodes-Vivour is a serial contestant and serial loser whose only strength is in Twitter hashtags and noisy press statements.”

APC also dismissed as shameful and blasphemous, an additional allegation that the party had desecrated a church, stressing that Lagos had been under its leadership for over 20 years without politicising places of worship.

Reacting to another ADC claim that a Canadian court had branded APC a terrorist organisation, Oladejo said the suggestion was a joke taken too far.

He added, “ We have no history of violence in Lagos state and no reason to start now”, while emphasising that the party remains committed to peace and issue-based politics. He challenged the ADC to present evidence to back its allegations.
